I was up before sunrise, around 6am, so I went out and took a quick peek at Saturn. I found it first by looking at GoSkyWatch on my phone to see what was interesting, then finding Venus, then looking up to Saturn. (It was in a line with Mercury, but Mercury was behind trees at the time). I spotted it pretty easily, then doubly easily with 10-30×50 binoculars. I got the binoculars on a tripod and convinced myself I actually saw the shape of the ring, a blob that was slightly elongated when zoomed to 30x. I could easily have fooled myself, but OTOH the angle I think I saw turns out to be the angle that I should have seen.
Here’s a shot of what Stellarium says it should have looked like.
